St. Elizabeth Health Center School for Nurse Anesthetists, Inc. is a 27-month program that was established in 1947. Since that time the Program has maintained full accreditation status by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, 222 South Prospect Ave., Park Ridge, IL 60068-4010, (847)-692-7050. a specialized accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
The Program is designed to educate a CRNA practitioner at the master's level who can administer anesthesia in any practice setting. Applicants are reviewed on a nondiscriminatory basis, regardless of race, color, religion, age, gender, national origin, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, or any factor protected by law. Each applicant is evaluated by the Admissions Committee of the School for Nurse Anesthetists. Acceptance into Youngstown State University Master of Science in Nursing Program Nurse Anesthesia Track, is contingent upon acceptance into the St. Elizabeth Health Center School for Nurse Anesthetists, Inc.
The program is located in Youngstown, Ohio and has an academic affiliation with Youngstown State University, accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, 30 N. LaSalle Street Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602-2504, (800)621-7040. The cost of the program ranges from $28,100-$48,617 depending on state residency status. For furter information please contact Youngstown State University. Costs are subject to change. Upon successful completion of the program, a Master of Science in Nursing is awarded. Experience includes the use of many anesthetic agents and techniques. Students have the opportunity to gain experience in major cardiac, thoracic, peripheral vascular and neurosurgical procedures, as well as general surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, outpatient procedures, and renal transplants. Constant supervision of students is maintained by Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and Staff Anesthesiologists from Bel-Park Anesthesia Associates, Inc. Graduates of the Program are eligible to sit for the certification exam by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists. Once certified, individuals planning on working in Ohio must apply to the Ohio State Board of Nursing to obtain a Certificate of Authority to practice as an Advance Practice Nurse. All program graduates have successfuly passed the national certification exam and have gone on to practice in the field.
